# Install the Tolmo CLI skill

> Install and update the Tolmo command reference for compatible coding agents.

The Tolmo skill is a Markdown command reference for compatible coding agents. It describes CLI syntax for infrastructure queries, findings review, repository access, and connected services. Commands run with your configured Tolmo credentials and permissions.

## Install and check the skill

```bash theme={null}
tolmo skill install
tolmo skill status
```

The installer writes the CLI reference and finding-format guide to:

* `~/.claude/skills/tolmo/SKILL.md`
* `~/.agents/skills/tolmo/SKILL.md`
* `~/.claude/skills/tolmo-finding-format/SKILL.md`
* `~/.agents/skills/tolmo-finding-format/SKILL.md`

Homebrew installs the CLI binary. Run `tolmo skill install` separately to install the skill. Use [Authentication](https://docs.tolmo.com/authentication.md) to configure the CLI before asking an agent to query your organization.

## Update the skill

After updating the CLI, install the bundled skill again:

```bash theme={null}
tolmo update
tolmo skill install
```

`tolmo skill status` reports the installation state for each supported directory.
